The Problem

Your employees could be paying too much tax.

UK tax is complex, and most employees don’t have an accountant to point out the reliefs and savings they’re entitled to. So they pay what their payslip says, and miss out on tax reliefs and tax saving opporunities they are entitled to.

£1.42bn*

of pension tax relief goes unclaimed by UK taxpayers every year.

Employees are quietly overpaying tax.

➔ Tax happens to them
PAYE assumes the tax code is right and that nothing else applies.

➔ Nobody owns the gap
Payroll administers the code it is given. Most employees do not know what they can claim, or how.

➔ And then it expires
Claims go back four years. Every April another year is gone for good.

What tax reliefs do employees commonly miss?

None of these are exciting and easily get overlooked.

  • Pink calculator icon with a percentage symbol

    Pension Relief

Higher-rate relief on relief-at-source workplace and private pensions, never claimed.

  • Pink gift box icon with a bow on a black background

    Gift Aid

Higher and additional rate relief on charitable giving, very often left unclaimed.

  • Pink outline icon of a hand holding a rolled document or scroll.

    Professional Fees

Relief on professional memberships and annual subscriptions they pay themselves.

  • Pink diamond engagement ring icon with sparkle accents

    Marriage Allowance

Often misunderstood or not known about and therefore rarely claimed.

  • Pink outline of a house with a circular window and arched doorway

    Working From Home

The rule ended in April 2026, but earlier years are still open.

  • Pink icon of a train

    Travel Costs

Relief may be due on costs employees pay personally when travelling for work.

Why you should offer it to staff

Give your people a pay rise, without touching payroll.

PocketTax gives your employees a smart mobile app that works like their own personal tax adviser. It finds the reliefs they’re entitled to and shows them exactly how to claim. You get a benefit people actually notice in their bank account.

• Boosts your team’s financial wellbeing
• No integration costs
• No payroll or IT work

How it Works

A tax adviser in their pocket.

A mobile app which lets employees connect their HMRC record and PocketTax turns it into a clear picture of the tax reliefs they are owed and ways to pocket more of what they earn.

01

Built on their own figures

The employee connects their HMRC records, so what they see is real rather than a generic calculator.

02

For people, not accountants

How much tax they owe, what they can claim, what it is worth and what to do next, in plain English.

03

Real money in their pocket

Staff claim tax relief they’re entitled to and act on savings they’d otherwise miss. HMRC pays them directly, we never handle their money.

£1,680

recovered in higher-rate pension relief for James who is employed and paid through PAYE.

The numbers speak for themselves.

➔ The situation
James paid into his workplace pension and assumed, as most people do, there was nothing for him to do. His employer never informed him otherwise.

➔ What was missed
Basic rate relief was added at source. Because the scheme was relief at source, the higher-rate part had to be claimed separately, and this never had been. Four open years, all unclaimed.

➔ The outcome
Claims prepared and submitted for all four years. HMRC repaid the full amount directly to him.

Why I started it…

“I kept finding money for friends and family. These were reliefs they were entitled to and had no idea existed. Then I realised how many people are missing out and was shocked.”
